Our acupuncturists have some of the most extensive training of any you’ll find in the state. In Connecticut, acupuncture can be legally performed by a number of different health care providers. When choosing an acupuncturist, it is important to make sure you are making an informed decision. The following explains the different levels of training among acupuncturists and can be a helpful tool in choosing a provider.

Jacqueline Dibble graduated from the New England School of Acupuncture (NESA) with a Master’s degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. NESA is part of Massachusetts Pharmacy and Dental University (MCPHS) and was the first acupuncture degree program in the US. She is licensed by the Connecticut Acupuncture Licensing Board through the Department of Public Health and is a member of Connecticut Society of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. While at NESA, Jacqueline was selected to share her research in a poster presentation titled, “The Experience of Acupuncture in Patients’ with Chronic Pain” at the prestigious international conference hosted by the Korean Institute of Oriental Medicine (KIOM) and the Society for Acupuncture Research (SAR).

Jacqueline’s expertise in Traditional Chinese Medicine combines several styles and approaches of acupuncture, including the gentler Japanese style and even non-insertive needle techniques for patients who are needle sensitive. As part of a comprehensive approach, she often combines herbal medicine, diet, exercise and lifestyle measures. Jacquelin uses this integrative mindset particularly in treating such issues as fibromyalgia, connective tissue disorders, digestive disorders, neurologic issues, headaches, insomnia, anxiety, and depression.

Jacqueline is a graduate of Fitchburg State University where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Science and Nursing. She practiced as an RN in the fields of Critical Care and Home-Based Advanced Practice Care, while also working as an educator and clinical instructor. As an RN, Jacqueline maintained her status as Certified Holistic Nurse for over 10 years.

Kathlene is a licensed Acupuncturist in CT and NY, a Board Certified Herbalist, and a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine as granted by the NCCAOM. She received her Master’s of Science degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in New York, NY. Her main training was in TCM style acupuncture, however she has training in both Classical style and Electro-acupuncture from her mentors in these fields. Additionally, she trained outside of the required program hours under the supervision of two acupuncturists where she was exposed to Five Element style acupuncture, orthopedic and sports medicine, and post-surgical rehabilitation/scar therapy. She currently also treats patients for: women’s issues/GYN, fertility, neck & back pain, sciatica, digestive disorders, autoimmune, insomnia, anxiety/depression, fatigue, headaches, migraines, sports injuries, and stress.

Kathlene originally started down a pre-med path that ultimately resulted in receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Boston University, as well as continuing graduate level counseling classes at Southern Connecticut State University. When she got diagnosed with Hashimoto’s and MTHFR, she started down other paths of “alternative” healing starting with naturopathic consultation. Her world began opening up to more holistic styles of medicine, and she began to explore forms of energy healing and the role of spirituality in healing. It was a long time before she discovered the powerful combination of acupuncture and internal herbal medicine, and immediately decided to become a practitioner to help more people have access to this medicine. She later pursued a certification offered by the state of New York for Mental Health First Aid Training in order to provide another level of care to her patients from a holistic perspective. As such, she excels at holding space and treating mental health and trauma related issues.

She has extensive knowledge on a personal level about the treatment of autoimmune conditions and digestive health from both Eastern and Western perspectives, and has been able to manage her condition without Western medication through acupuncture, herbs, supplements, and dietary modification. She had the good fortune to both learn from and receive treatment from Dr. Heidi Lovie, DACM, a nationally respected authority on the treatment of Hashimoto’s. She also has learned from and been treated by the inimitable Dr. John Pai in midtown Manhattan. While Western medication is sometimes necessary, Kathlene believes it is very important to explore all possible avenues of treatment starting with the most conservative methods first. She is very aware of how challenging chronic illness can be physically, mentally, and spiritually. She is passionate and committed to helping her patients regain hope, and she encourages and equips them with the resources they need to become the foremost experts in their own health management. True healing is not going back to how things were; it is fully accepting the present moment as it is, and blazing a new path from the place we now stand.

Kathlene’s personal wellness regimen includes Chinese medicine (acupuncture, astrology, herbs, eating mindfully with the seasons, and lots of moxa), Qi Gong 6 healing sounds practice, Meditation, Buddhist chanting, Gratitude journaling, weight lifting, spending time by the ocean, enjoying healthy and balanced relationships, and reading as many self-help books.

Matt started the practice that would eventually grow into Connecticut Family Acupuncture in a one-room office in West Hartford in August 2007. A native of Connecticut, Matt’s acupuncture education spanned four academic years and over 3,000 hours (including over 1,000 hours of clinical training). He completed an internship in Chengdu, China where he studied with some of China’s best traditional doctors in a busy, mainstream, modern hospital that incorporated both traditional Chinese and Western medicine.

Although TCM is over 3,000 years old, Matt believes it is an ever-evolving field and enjoys staying current on all the latest developments and research. While many practitioners adhere strictly to a certain style of TCM, Matt employs a number of different modalities and schools of thought in his treatments. Each treatment is uniquely tailored to promote each patient’s healing.

Hello! I’m Tam, a nationally board certified, licensed acupuncturist with a passion for guiding people towards holistic well-being through natural medicine.

My journey to acupuncture wasn’t linear. As a pre-med student and later an EMT, I witnessed the limitations of conventional medicine firsthand. This sparked my curiosity about Eastern medicine, ultimately leading me to the New England School of Acupuncture (NESA), where I earned my Master of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (MAOM), specializing in pain management and mental health.

Combining my Western background with the wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine allows me to offer a unique perspective on healthcare. I understand the body’s complex systems and believe in treating the whole person, not just the symptoms.

In my treatment protocols I create personalized treatment plans that address your specific needs, be it pain, anxiety, stress, or other concerns. My approach blends:

• Effective acupuncture techniques: From traditional needle insertion to trigger point therapy and cupping, I utilize various tools to manage pain effectively.

• Mindfulness and stress management: Recognizing the mind-body connection, I incorporate these practices alongside acupuncture to support emotional well-being.

• A holistic approach: I consider your physical, emotional, and energetic aspects to achieve lasting results and empower you to take charge of your health.

I’m passionate about:

• Helping individuals rediscover their inner balance and achieve optimal health.

• Providing a compassionate and supportive space for healing and growth.

• Bridging the gap between Eastern and Western medicine for comprehensive care.

Ready to experience the difference acupuncture can make?

Tina Nicastro, MAOM, L.Ac. is a licensed acupuncturist and board certified herbalist specializing in holistic fertility and hormonal health. She’s the author of Conceive: A Heroine’s Journey to Awaken Natural Fertility. This book outlines her holistic fertility approach, designed to deeply support women along their journey to motherhood. She uses elements of this program in the acupuncture clinic, and dives into them more fully in her 1:1 holistic fertility coaching offerings.

Tina earned her master’s degree from New England School of Acupuncture in 2014 – logging over 3000 hours of clinically focused training – and she’s since immersed herself in post-grad studies for herbal medicine, advanced acupuncture techniques, and women’s health.

These include:

-Six consecutive years in the Graduate Mentorship Program with renowned women’s health herbalist, Sharon Weizenbaum

-Advanced studies in distal acupuncture with Si Yuan Balance Method, the long-time mentees of the late master acupuncturist, Dr. Richard Tan

-Certification and ongoing mentorship in Five Element Functional Endocrinology and Reproductive Medicine, a trailblazing treatment method synergizing the wisdom of Chinese medicine with modern nutritional supplementation and mind-body healing techniques.

Tina is preparing to sit for the ABORM fellowship exam: American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine is the national gold standard for reproductive acupuncture + its integration with modern biomedicine. And within the next couple years, she plans to complete her doctoral studies at PCOM (Pacific College of Oriental Medicine).

Tina’s always been a nurturer, a mother hen, a teacher. She earned her undergraduate + first graduate degree in theater/dance and secondary English education, which led to her first career as a high school English teacher and drama director. Her deepest fulfillment as a teacher was supporting young people as they explored and expressed who they were and how they envisioned their lives. During this time, however, Tina suffered massive burnout. She’d achieved quite a bit outwardly, but her physical and mental health plummeted. It was a wake-up call which led her to embark on a healing journey. Along the way, she developed a deep appreciation for natural medicine, nutrition, and self-cultivation practices.

Tina eventually left her teaching career in search of a more fully aligned life, and “by chance” landed an office manager job in a fertility acupuncture clinic. Every day at work, she’d witness patients’ amazing results and hear their stories: “I tried everything. Nothing worked. Until I found acupuncture.”

It was this experience that helped Tina see her future was in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. While at NESA, she discovered her passion for all things women’s health, nourished and healed her own menstrual irregularities, and was pregnant with her first child by graduation!

Tina’s mission is to help women live pain free, in flow, and in alignment with their natural cycles. She believes our bodies are infinitely wise and carry within them the power to heal. Whether a woman is trying to start a family, birth something new in her life, or transitioning into menopause, vibrant feminine wellbeing, regulated nervous systems, and balanced hormones provide the foundation for a fully expressed life.
